Alphabet’s revenue lines
This chart follows Alphabet’s quarterly revenue from Google Search & other, Google Cloud and everything else (YouTube ads, the Google Network, subscriptions, platforms and devices, and Other Bets) in billions of dollars. The figures come from Alphabet’s 10-Q and 10-K filings with the SEC and start in 2019, the first year Alphabet reported Search and Cloud as lines of their own.
What does it show?
Search revenue is still growing, but Cloud’s has grown about seventeenfold since early 2019 and now comes to almost half of Search’s each quarter.
Methodology
Alphabet’s revenue by line, read from the XBRL data in each 10-Q and 10-K Alphabet has filed since February 2020 (SEC EDGAR submissions API and each filing’s XBRL archive). Search is the line Alphabet reports as Google Search & other, tagged on the product-or-service axis inside the Google segment: revenue on Google’s search properties and on other Google-owned properties such as Gmail, Google Maps and Google Play, which includes the AI features inside Search (AI Overviews, AI Mode). Cloud is Google Cloud: a revenue line inside the Google segment until 2020 and Alphabet’s own operating segment since the fourth quarter of 2020, with the same revenue. Everything else is total revenue less Search and Cloud: YouTube ads; Google Network (named Google Network Members’ properties until 2021); Google subscriptions, platforms, and devices (called Google other until the 2023 10-K, which gives the line the same description: consumer subscriptions such as YouTube Premium, YouTube TV and Google One, Google Play, and devices such as Pixel); Other Bets; and hedging gains or losses. Alphabet does not report AI revenue. Cloud includes AI infrastructure, enterprise AI and, recently, sales of TPU systems, so it is partly but not only AI; Gemini consumer subscriptions sit in subscriptions, platforms, and devices, inside Everything else. Three-month values come from 10-Qs, a later filing replacing an earlier one; Alphabet reports no fourth quarter, so Q4 is the 10-K full year less the three quarters inside it (7 of the 31 quarters). The series starts with Q1 2019: the 2019 10-K was the first filing to report Search & other and Cloud as lines of their own, with 2017 and 2018 only as full years, and the 2020 10-Qs carried the 2019 quarters as comparatives. Earlier filings put Search together with YouTube under Google properties and did not report Cloud, so they are not used. In Q3 2026, Cloud revenue was 48% of Search revenue. Nominal US dollars, converted to billions.
