NVIDIA data center revenue, quarterly

By Dror Poleg

This chart follows NVIDIA’s revenue from data centers, the business that sells the chips, systems and networking used to train and run AI, against the company’s total revenue, quarter by quarter. Both come from NVIDIA’s 10-Q and 10-K filings with the SEC, and each fiscal fourth quarter is the annual figure less the first three. It starts in early 2015, the first quarter for which the filings split revenue by market.

What does it show?

NVIDIA’s data center revenue has grown roughly a thousandfold since early 2015 and has gone from under a tenth of the company’s sales to about nine-tenths.

Methodology

NVIDIA’s revenue from its Data Center market platform and its total revenue, read from the XBRL data in each 10-Q and 10-K NVIDIA has filed since March 2016 (SEC EDGAR submissions API and each filing’s XBRL archive). Data Center is revenue tagged with NVIDIA’s Data Center member on its market-platform axis (nvda:MarketAxis or nvda:RevenuebymajormarketAxis until mid-2018, the ProductOrServiceAxis since; the member was spelled Datacenter until 2019); total is the untagged revenue line of the same filings. Three-month values are taken from 10-Qs, a later filing’s restatement replacing the original; NVIDIA reports no fourth quarter, so fiscal Q4 is the 10-K full year less the three quarters inside it (11 of the 46 quarters). The series starts in the quarter to April 26, 2015 (Q1 fiscal 2016): the fiscal 2016 10-K is the first filing to split revenue by market platform, and the first quarters available are the prior-year comparatives in the fiscal 2017 10-Qs; earlier filings report only reportable segments and geography. NVIDIA’s fiscal year ends on the last Sunday of January, and each quarter is labelled by the calendar quarter in which it ends, as in the NVIDIA revenue chart: 2026-Q3 is Q2 fiscal 2027, the three months to July 26, 2026. Data Center is a market platform, not an operating segment; it has included networking since NVIDIA acquired Mellanox in April 2020. Nominal US dollars, converted to billions.
